Overpaying

Introduction

Pay your mortgage off quicker by overpaying.

If you have extra money at your disposal, why keep it tucked away in a savings account when it could work far harder for you if you used it to make overpayments?

You can make unlimited overpayments on a Freestyle® variable rate, either regularly or with lump sums, or overpay up to 10% of your outstanding balance every year on a Freestyle fixed rate.

And, if money is tight one month you can borrow back any overpayments you've made at mortgage rates, subject to our normal lending criteria.

If you've registered for online servicing, log in and manage your overpayments online at a time that suits you.

The facts:

  • The minimum amount you can deposit as a lump sum is £1,000
  • A fee of £20 is payable each time you borrow back from your Prepayment Reserve and remember borrowing back overpayments will increase your monthly payments, interest payable and your mortgage balance
  • Early repayment charges will apply if you overpay more than 10% of the remaining balance each year on a Freestyle fixed rate or if you redeem on a Freestyle discounted variable rate within the tie in period.
